very bad rebuild?

ok, here's the problem. i had purchased a rebuild from a well known company for my 88 gxl. i'm not going to name names yet, since i havn't spoke to them about this problem.(this all just happened a few hours ago) I filled all the fluids, and we tried to start it up. it would run then die. the timing wasnt set yet, but at least it was starting. buddy pulled out the oil dipstick, and the fluid was a creamy white an it was 3/4 up the entire dipstick! we open the oil drain, and out came all the oil and coolant. we were assuming we hooked up something wrong and started taking parts off to try to find the problem. water pump looked good, but while it was off, we tried an experiment. we poured coolant directly into the two water passeges where the water pump bolts up to. almost instantly it was pouring out of the oil pan drain. now this is the second engine i recieved from this company. the first done exactly the same thing, and they told me after i sent the motor back that they took it apart, and nothing was wrong with it. then, i had to pay for shipping charges both ways. then they send me this motor, and its the same problems all over again. they did say it was the same engine as the first, but obviously, the problem has not been fixed. is this something we done wrong or is this completely on the builder? if it is there fault, what seal went out so i know what to bitch about when i call them first thing monday? i need all the help i can get on this one.

Please let us know who it is so others can avoid them, especially if they are difficult to work with.

like i said, i didn't call them back yet. we'll see how they handle this. i feel i was lied to on the first motor. they said it was my friends fault, that he hooked up a coolant line to a vaccuum line on accident. i wish we would have tried our experiment the first time around. if they dont hook me up, you guys will be the first to hear about it. that is if its their fault. what do you guys think? bad rebuild?

my friend says he says he installed it the exact same way he did the first time, and that was before we found the problems

i think its either a bad front/center/rear plate or rotor housing. There is probably a hole in the coolant passages somewhere that drains directly into the pan

if it makes a difference, the few seconds it ran, it did not smell like burning coolant. we pulled the plugs, and they were not white. so i dont think coolant is making it into the combustion area, besides the small amount being pumped it through the oil lines

evilfocus 09-17-05 11:57 PM

so this is their fault and not ours?

sounds like you have a coolant line switched with a crankcase vent line.

pull the upper intake off and start snapping pics of the lines and routing.

but would that explain our experiment from the first post? we dumped water directly into the coolant passages ON THE MOTOR and water was coming out the oil drain.

LOL, where are you in Milwaukee?

I am by the airport...

Sounds like the engine might be forked.....
