Vert's... how much would YOU pay?
i need your opinion on a VERT!! i'm on the market for a clean S5 vert with a blown motor. how much would you pay for a blown motored vert???
|
maybe $1500 if it was in nice condition other than the blown motor
|
Well considering good ones cost 5-7k ( way to much in my opinion) A blown one should cost 1500-2000 I guess. If this is the case then it would be way cheaper to buy a blown one and rebuild the engine.
|
I wouldn't pay more than $2K unless everything else is perfect, then bump it up an extra $500.

i have a totaled S4 TII with 88K on motor, imma attempt a TII topless. any opinions?

oooh, good call, i'll consider that, any other suggestions??
|
I would pay as much as $10,000.
Do you want to buy one of mine? |
if you can convert it into a boat and ship it here for a grand... YEAH! ;)
|
Why is it the easiest to convert to a TII? i don't know any specifics.....
Originally posted by Icemark You would want an 88 'vert then. It is the lightest of the 'verts and easiest to convert to a t2 driveline. |

the correct spelling is convertible, convertable as you wrote means something else.... |
yes, one thing is to convert NA to TII the other thing is to convert S4 to S5, lots of things are different, for example harness, sensors, etc
|
can it be done though? S4 TII to a S5 vert? i don't mind getting an S5 turbo! ;)

Originally posted by Mr. 'Vert Why is it the easiest to convert to a TII? i don't know any specifics..... The electronics in the 88 'vert are also already almost T2 electronics, with the N338 'vert ECU already able to control a T2 engine and even simple things like the 88 'verts have the same knockdown fuel pump voltage relay that the T2s have. |
$1500 for an average car, and I would pay as much as $3000 for a very nice one. Remember, a new top is worth a grand and a good paitjob (NOT Maico) will run you $1500.....
|
I paid $1500 for mine w/ 200k miles and a working motor. It smokes, it's a beater, but it's mine. :-)
Actually I would put it in fair condition -- needs some body work and the usual wiper switch didn't work, but other than that I've enjoyed it immensely in the 6mo I've owned it! For a blown motor, you should be able to pay less unless the body is in great condition. |
Oh, and if you are doing an engine, do the V-8 conversion from grannyspeedshop. It costs about the same as a TII conversion with a rebuild but you get 350 HP and 400 ft-lbs of torque. You will LOVE yourself for doing it...

none they are slow

People have done 13BT swaps for less than $600 into those cars when selling the old working parts is considered. The cheapest I have heard of a V8 swap has been over $2500. But lets not make this another lame V8 into an RX-7 thread. |
but a piston powerd rx7 is just not right, well my .o2 anyways. i allready have a TII engine, tranny, LSD etc etc, i don't wanna drive fast with it anymore. i've been in too many accidents, and i don't wanna deal with the danger. i just wanna cruise with the top down on sunset, and have a rare TII vert, hope you guys understand, and not flame me
