So this happened....
Is there any way I can patch it up to where it won't flap super loudly at freeway speeds? It doesn't have to look pretty I just need to stop it from getting any bigger.
It used to just be 2 smaller tears but it's escalated quite a bit and seems to have no end in sight.

besides some black tape you will obviously need a new top

pretty much

there's so much tension on the top that no repair job will ever work for it and it will continue to rip even under the tape.

vert tops have a finite life expectancy and that can only be increased by keeping the car out of the elements, sadly. it's just part of owning a vert, honestly i hate them mainly because the tops are expensive and they don't last very long.

had a BMW E36 a few years ago, bought it with a brand new top and the piece of shit was falling apart within the year, i vowed to not deal with that shit again.

Unless it's raining..Keep the top down where it belongs.

But yeah not much you can do besides tape.

So I know where to get a nice new top, but what's generally a fair price for install? And what do yall think of tan or darker brown like saddle? Just throwing it out there since I have those options.

Since your vert is red I would stay black.
A black vert with a tan top could look good tho.
All personal preference when it comes down to it.

Think this'll work? All I need is the rear section, my targa part is fine. That rear top layer there in the pictures is the only part that's bad at all. But the description isn't too clear about whether or not that's what this is. Opinions?

I recently purchased a Robbins rear section only (part 2950) on Fleabay for $418 shipped.

I've scheduled an appointment to have it installed at a local shop. The guy quoted me 6 hours for a total of $350 but I found a web page that indicates it's 4 hours for the rear section and 2 for the targa so I plan to take a printout of that with me when I drop off the car for the install and hopefully get the install cost down to about $235.

Keep me posted on how install goes.

OK but it will be a while. The shop is busy and the earliest he can do it is September 9 which is what I scheduled.
