Vert TENAX fasteners
 

I searched and found some info but not exactly what I was looking for. The Tenax fasteners used to secure the convertible top-what size are they? I believe they are the German type, but I'm not sure about the machine thread size, etc. Anyone know?

Yes, this would be a good thing to know. The link below was posted yesterday. Once you know the type, they may have them a whole lot less expensive than Mazda

That was one of the sites I was looking at. Some tenax are 'M4', 'M5', etc. I'm not sure what the vert's would be?

Searching "Mazda" on that site yeilded only the Miata fasteners. I guess there are three options left. 1. Eagleday has an email option - ask them? 2. Go to a Mazda dealer and order one. When you get it, remove one of yours and measure per the Eagleday descriptions. If you find a match return your purchase to Mazda - hope they take it back. 3. Email Mazda national ( there is a link to a question section) and ask if the Miata tenax is the same as the Miata's or if they can provide you with the specs.

I recommeded 3. because I emailed Mazda about three years ago looking for the color code for the red interior plastic. I wanted to paint the faded trim with an exact match. Within two days I actually got a response by a named person. They were unable to find the code for me. Not an issue any longer because I sold that one and bought a vert. Ya never know, Mazda might help.

There are two types tenax fasteners. The several that screw directly into the lower rail and the four that are at the drain pockets. The four at the drain pockets have the fastener and a nut that secures it. At least that is what the parts manual shows. I recall the part numbers for the fastener being different but I may be wrong. I was going to replace all mine but the cost was absurd.

BTW, if you do get enuf info to identify the Eagleday product please post it. Lots of vert owners would certainly be grateful.

I went to a few Marine (boat) shops and they had similar Tenax fasteners, but the ball was too big + they would stick out too far. They were nice because they were stainless (need that here in FL).

I'll take your advice and e-mail Mazda and call Eaglday. I saw a new Miata and there were no Tenax. Need to find an old Miata to compare.

I found some place online that had some in black chrome but i too wasnt sure of the size so i just ended up with stock. Im kinda wondering about the ones that dont have the buttons on them, just look like a bolt. I havent seen those anywhere.

I measured the length of some spare 'vert fasteners and they are 5/8". If I did the math correctly that equates to a length of .625 and the threaded Tenax fasteners have a length of .393, which appears to be to short.
