'vert stereo help....anyone
Can anyone explain to me how I can, or IF I can make my surround sound speakers in my headrests along with my control panel for them in my center console work. I put my Kenwood Excellon head unit in, and I never found wires or anything for them. They're pretty kick-ass and would like for them to work. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

I am not for certain, but I thought that some company made a wiring harness kit for our cars and it allowed you to hook into the stock amplifiers.
Maybe somebody made it, I can't remember. From what I have experienced with my FC (non-vert), the stock amplifiers aren't easy to wire into an aftermarket deck. The way I got mine working was to run all new wire to the speakers. |
It can be done, but you will have to make and interface to the stock amp. Easier is to just run them of an aftermarket amp and put them on an L-pad or a line-level gain control.

On the 88 (which I am assuming you have), the head rest speakers are driven off the front speaker output.
Which is a 15 watt maxiumim input. Now I imagine your kenwood deck has considerably more than that for an output, so you need to either lower the output of the deck, through a adjustable line converter or as David said, use a low power amp to drive them. But the draw back to that is that there is already two amps for them in there. Either way you will need to power up the stock amp turn on lead as well. |
