vert with s5 coupe tails and trunk wont open
So after of about half a year, I still can't open my trunk. I have 91 vert with s5 coupe tails. There is no key hole and the cable is now stretched out. I was thinking of cutting a hole where the liencse plate is and popping it open that way. However. I don't want to cut a hole if I don't need to. Anyone have any idea or trick to popping it open?

Undo the cable from the latch on the floor, then pull it with some vice grips. It may be stretched, but it'll still unlatch if you pull it hard enough.

Shorten the cable.
You can buy ferrules at Ace Hardware. |
if greens idea dont work you can reach the trunk from inside the cabin by taking apart the plastics. You will want to push it towards the trunk from the perimeter to try to keep the plastics from breaking.
Please do not cut a hole its not needed. Someone just did it a few weeks ago and I have also done it. You can then rig a emergency release out the bottom of the trunk using a $8 choke cable from the auto parts store, there is even a hole already there ( where it looks like a spare tire would go ) |
there is a little lever behind the latch where you can manually pull, depending on what side your pulling, i'll post pics up tomorrow

I just woulden't open that trunk if I were you

see, this is why i built a fail-safe into my vert. just a hidden pull tab so i can open the trunk.
