Vert owners! Does your car do strange electrical stuff when it rains?

Mine does.

Headrest speakers stop working
Sometimes my seatbelt light will actually stop flashing
Alarm will not arm or disarm.

No leaks into the car except for a little drip or two on the driver side window.

There is a tear on the driver side part of the soft top at the back, but as far as I know that water has an easy way to get out.

I want to hear anyone else's rain related electrical gremlins.

Top would stop working when it got humid, as you can guess, thats not the greatest experience, so now I have a manual top.

Window switches use to be bipolar too.

Do coupes suffer this problem as well?

I shouldn't say just rain causes it, just as nate said, if it gets humid enough it happens as well.

The reason I brought this up is because it is raining in Dallas today and well...my vert is being weird.

Add to my list...

Turn signal cancelation ring doesn't work.

No problem here, but the air is very dry and it doesn't rain often. There's 2 ft of snow outside though, lol.

Nothing special happens when it rains. Does it have electrical problems? Yes. The clock works intermittently. I have the same occasional drip or two from the driver side window. I put some double sided adhesive under the seal and it's become very minimal now. I have the little rust spot on the rear corner panel from the top leaking. The top used to leak, but it's fixed now. FCs are project cars for sure.

I'm in san antonio, but my vert doesn't show any difference regardless of the weather..

I"ll have to pay attention when I'm driving but I've owned 2 verts and driven 4 different ones between my father and I. I don't remember any of them having a turn signal ring. I particularly don't like my father's 90' vert because the turn signal needs a tighter turn to deactivate the signal. I'm regularly in traffic and not aware the turn signal is still on.

I live in NY and the weather is pretty extreme here but I haven't had any electrical issues with my vert.

I have a coupe. If I shoot water down the exhaust (like when washing it) or if I go in huge puddles, the wipers will go on full. No matter what I have them selected to. Really bugs me.

It was raining the day my left headlight motor began malfunctioning. It would stay stuck in the up position. I could lower it manually but it would immediately pop back up. A couple of dry day later it returned to proper operation. This process repeated 2-3 times before the malfunction became permanent.

I replaced the motor with a known good motor and problem solved.

My Vert has never seen the rain

I was thinking of removing the wipers

Apologies for threadjack and providing no useful information whatsoever

If it is wet outside my airbag light repeatedly flashes on & off.

jjwalker you jinxed me!!! :(

It was raining all day yesterday. I leave my sister's house for home and for the first time my blower on my heater isn't working. It was working fine on the drive to her house. Was not working today either. For now the car will sit, family is in town.

I'm hoping it's a blown fuse. I don't think its a clogged heater core. I have ambient heat coming through the vents just no fan blowing on any setting. Also I'm not sure that the rear defrost is working. It's a 15min drive and by the time I got home I barely had lines defrosted. I'd think the ambient heat from the fan working would assist the rear defrost.

Mine just failed too. Not sure why.

Haven't checked the fuse yet. I can hear the relay click but no motor.

EnjoiPugs 11-26-10 06:03 PM

Turn signal ring's off on mine too.

thegreenarrow 11-26-10 09:04 PM

I don't really drive mine in the rain too much, even though it's nothing special. But I never had any issues with moisture, since it got cold out something in the back started buzzing though...
