VDI selenoid question...

this is a strange one i thought up ..... since i took out my air pump and sealed everything up i have to wire open my vdi... is it possible to get an electric selenoid to replace the vaccuum selenoid ... and use a rpm activated switch to control it???? anyone have feedback on this??? opinions would be appreciated also
thanks

An electric solenoid would have to be connected directly to the VDI valve's arm, replacing the vacuum actuator. If you can fit one in there then there's no reason why it wouldn't work fine. A salvaged electric door lock solenoid might work.
You wouldn't need an rpm switch as the ECU already sends a signal to the stock vac solenoid at the right time. You could just use those wires to operate the solenoid. Depending on the current draw of the new solenoid you may need to do this via a relay. They draw a lot more current than little vac ones.
