Vacuum pills s4 n/a
Just a quick question. You are supposed to have 2 vacuum pills right??
It's been a while, but if I remember correctly there should be one in the pressure sensor vacuum line and then one that goes right under the throttle body? I dont think I have them, and I'm sure Mazda used them for a reason :) |
Only one orifice is used on a series four turbo or non turbo car. For the boost/pressure sensor.

Yeah, thats what I figured, and thats what I dont have. I thought I remember there was a pill going to the set of throttle plates dedicated to cold start assist as well.
|
How bad is it that I dont have one? I will be getting one as soon as I can, but I want to know if I'm hurting something so I can just take my other car (las vegas + no a/c in beater = :( )
|
can the check valve located on one of the vacuum lines from the rats nest be used in place of the orifice? I have yet to come across anything other than the white/green check valve, and the FSM doesn't show there being a pill/orifice/check valve between the boost/pressure sensor and the vac nipple it goes onto.

The parts fische index will show a number for ORIFICE.
A search of this forum using ORIFICE and HAILERS will produce the part number. And NZCONVERTIBLE had a thread on how you could make one and the drill bit size...somewhere on this forum. A checkvalve cannot be used for a orifice. The orifice just cuts down on the hole size, it does not block or check the path of vacuum. Some cars will show a problem with no orifice...some will not. I had severe hesitation at low rpms when I left mine out on a n/a car. |
it smooths out the signal to the pressure sensor, which smooths out your timing curves, etc. you can also just find something plastic that fits in the line and drill a 1/32" hole through it
