vacuum lines on the UIM w/ no rats nest

Ok, I've searched and all I can find is the stock vacuum hose diagram with all the solenoids in it, it's been bothering me for a while, because I think mine is probably hooked up wrong.

all I have left is the:
FPR
primary injector bleed
secondary injector bleed

I have 2 vacuum lines that go to my throttle body/UIM area, I think the FPR actually goes to a nipple on the LIM so I don't think that's a problem.

I just want to know which nipples on the UIM to plug the 2 injector bleeds into. right now I have them going to the 2 bottom against the firewall (not counting the brake booster line which is on the very bottom.)

could anyone point me in the right direction?

thanks

How I understand it, and from my experience, any vacuum nipple will work. The vacuum applied to the device is proportional to the inside diameter of the nipple. Meaning that if the hose fits, and it's an unused vacuum nipple, then it'll work. Just find one that works and use it :)

There should be a diagram of the vacuum lines pasted to the hood of any series five turbo car. Someone should take a closeup picuture and post it.

I've posted the series four turbo diagram. It might be different than the series five.

Not all nipples on the throttle body are vacuum. On a series four turbo, only the bottom nipple on the back of the throttle body is vacuum and only the top nipple on the front of the throttle body is vacuum. The other are NOT sources of vacuum.

so it looks like the top 2, not the bottom 2. for some reason I thought those went into solenoids stock...

The only thing I'm still not sure of is I'm pretty sure I have 4 vacuum nipples back there plus the brake booster line, but I'm not positive. I'll double check it when I get home today.

ON the back of the throttle body, there is but one vacuum line of the three/four that are one above the other. That vacuum one is the bottom nipple.

Fuel injector air bleeds do NOT get vacuum. So you would pick one of the other nipples to feed it i.e. any but the bottom nipple.

Feed vacuum to a fuel injector air bleed and you'll get a funny idle.

What is a "funny idle" and would it just be idle that is affected?

Read this old thread and the NZCONVERTIBLE words in post #3,

ok, well mine goes small, big, small, small from the top and not SSBS like NVCONVERTIBLE said... but i think the major thing is just not to use the bottom one...

thanks guys, I was right in thinking I probably had it wrong :p:

That's a great thread and should be archived. There is no way in hell I would have found it with "PURGE+VALVE" as the search criteria.

Actually, if I read NZ correctly, the three nipples on the back of a JDM S5 Tii are all non-vacuum so their placement doesnt really matter; except that because the hose is bigger because of the 4-into-1 manifold the OMP/MOP tube goes to the big one in the middle.

That does surprise me though, I understood from another thread that the OMP line was a vacuum assist to help pull the oil up from the OMP/MOP.

The nipples on the rear consist of only ONE that has vacuum. The bottom one, which is used for the water thermo valve (NOt water thermowax)

The OMP does not get vacuum from the *spider*. That air is from a source prior to the throttle plates. Take you throttle body apart someday and look at it.

There is a vacuum on the oil injectors. The source of the vacuum is from the ROTOR on its intake stroke. The oil metering pumps oil lines are under pressur from the omp itself. Someday block three of the four omp lines off. Then deadend the last omp oil line into a oil pressure gauge. Start the engine and rev it to two grand. The oil pressure gauge will rise. I've seen 40psi before the line blew off the gauge. The pressure comes from the omp itself, not the engine oil pump. The engine oil pump just supplys the OMP reservoir with oil, not pressure.

Not saying the vacuum created by the ROTOR isn't there. It's there and it more or less vaporizes the oil from the OMP.

With a JDM S5 Tii, you said:

"Okay, I missed the J-spec part. J-spec engines don't have the double throttle vac line, so no forth nipple on the rear. The three you have do not see vacuum."

So if the OMP spider doesnt have vacuum, what does it do? Is it supplying a bit of air to help atomize the oil?

It's just for the oil injector bleeds, I have no idea what they do :p: , but it does the same thing as the fuel injector bleeds, which have the same type of nipples.
