Vacuum hose replacement help
 

I began today to redo all my vacuum hoses. I am replacing them with white silicon hose from hose-techniques. Well since my old hoses where old and hard, I ended up breaking the little inlet plastic nipple on two componets.

The first is on this selenoid:

I have no way to attach it :( will my car run without it? can I replace it with a different selenoid for the time being such as the one that actuates my 5th and 6th port? While I get a new one from the dealer.

The second broken nipple is on the bottom of this part:

Again I have no way to attach it :( and again I ask you.. Will my car run whitout it? at least while I get a new one from the dealer.

I also ran into two connectors that were detached. I really have no idea where they might go. Here they are.

This one looks like it's some kind of grounding wire:

Is it important? Where does it attach?

The other connector was right underneath the upper intake manifold, right next to the OMP injectors/lines:

actually, one more question.. can silicone hose be used for fuel and coolant?

It will probably run with the vacuum lines if you plug them for now but will run real rough. You need to post on the parts for sale or buy section and ask for the solonoid you broke the nipple off. you ask by color, actually i do not think the color matters.

As for the capacitor it normally fastens to one of the bell housing bolts but you should be able to attach it to any good grouded connection.

The plug connector looks like the one for the TPS??

Oh do not use silicon for fuel !!! And can only use it for coolant resivor lines which have no pressure, silicon swells!

Thanks for your help. I haven't used the silicon hose for fuel lines. I did however use it for the charcoal canister, you think that might be a problem? The selenoid I think I will swap it with the 5&6th port one while I get a new one. I'll ground the capacitor as you said. The connector you are absolutely right, stupid me forgot about the TPS. The only concern I have left is the purge valve (2nd and 3rd picture above) Will the car run fine without it?

The charcoal canister should be fine.

If you have some supper glue and some J. B. weld you should be able to repair the nipples until you can get new solonoid and purge valve. We broke a nipple off a couple of years ago and we were able to use supper glue then J.B weld around the break and it has been that way for a couple of years now! just becarful not to glue the valve seat closed on the solonid .

So I have everything back together. I capped the vacuum hose that goes to the broken selenoid (VDI). I also capped the vacuum hose that goes to the broken purge valve. I turned the motor on, all sounds great and looks great. I let it warm up and the idle is beautiful and all sounds great. I went over to see the engine compartment and noticed my header was cherry red! What gives? Does it have to do with the capped vacuum hoses maybe? TIA

Did you mess with the timing ? Is your cat plugged ?

nope didn't mess with anything. I think I've resolved the problem though. I unplugged and replugged all the electrical connections and twisted tight every vac hose. Took the car out for a drive and no more red header. Maybe an injector connector was loose.. I don't know.. thanks for your help though. :)
