Vacuum hose replacement
So what's the deal? Is it 3.5mm or 4mm? One place says one thing, another place the other. Most seem to say 3.5mm, but the parts fiche says 4mm. Do people use 3.5mm just to get a tighter fit?

yes I need to buy alot of vacum hosing to replace mine aqnybody know?
|
3.5 is a perfect fit

I'm no help... I used 1/8" ! (That works out to about 3.2 mm).
I am so tempted to make a stupid statement along the lines of "my motor still sucks", but I guess I won't. |
3.5 for the rats nest plumbing
6mm, 8mm for the charcoal canister to center plate plumbing. I used 6mm it was tight but it works. 10mm for the brakebooster plumbing. There is a checkvalve here that you need to remove from the old and place into the new. Its in the first rubber hose that connects the booster to the metal line on the firewall. Just cut it out carefully out with a knofe and note the position. |
hosetechniques kit! But it's pretty expensive (unless it was on clearance like mine!) and you get a whole lot more hose than you need.
|
It's an NA, so that kit is overkill. I would have ordered from Hose Techniques by now, but their shipping to Canada costs as much as the hose does! Finding a local supplier hasn't been a cakewalk though.

I got my tubing from the following, but their tubing they list is in inches, not metric. I don't remember where they are located, but they have a toll free number that maybe you can use to find out (can you use 1-800 numbers in Canada?).
The quality of the tubing seems excellent, and you can order the quantity you need (min quantity is 10 ft). If you do a search, there have been lots of other sources listed on this site in other posts. http://www.paragonperformance.com/ |

... You guys need 3.5mm to replace most of the tubing on the engine... any other tubing you'd have to get odd sizes that you wont need a lot of (so ordering from an online place with a minimum 10ft order would make it pointless)
You need about 25ft of it... but order 30 ft to be safe. You'll have some left over, but believe me that's way better than not having enough. --Gary |
