Using T2 MAP sensor for data logging
Can this be done? I did some reasearch but didn;t come to any solid conclusions.
Some say that the MAP sensor tops out at 8.x psi due to fuel cut, so if you wanted to read higher pressure, youd need the FCD. In my opinion this is wrong, as the pressure sensor will keep relaying voltages even though the pressure is greater than the fuel cut limit. I believe it is a generic 0-5v sensor with a linear calibration, aka when hooked up to a 0-5v reader (EMS, LM-1, etc) one could easily interpret the results. (The whole point is so I can log boost pressure along with afrs, rpm, TPS, etc on my lm-1 without buying an ems) The same new sensors can be had off ebay for 100+.... or if this worked I could buy one used from another member for 20. Any thoughts? |
The stock boost sensor reads up to 1 bar (14.5 psi), not just the 8.6 psi where fuel is cut.
If you want to test the output of the boost sensor while the car is under load, have a friend gas it while the car is up on jack stands & use a DMM to test the pin outs. |
I'm not sure about what's going on, but seems to me you could pickoff the boost sensors output prior to that output going to the fuel cut defender

search hooking up an SAFC to the pressure sensor on a turbo car, that will explain how to hook it up. But why do you want to do this? Just get an Rtek 2.1 , it has onboard datalogging that will allow you to overlay stock pressure sensor readings with ignition advance, rpm, etc without needing a bunch of extra hardware.
