Using Radiator From Another Car/Truck

Is there any other car or truck that I would be able to use a radiator off of? I have a leak where the plastic top part is crimped onto the fins part. There aren't any RX7's around in the local junkyards, so I was hoping that maybe something else will work. I was supposed to go to the first autocross of the year on Sat/Sun so I really want to get it fixed A.S.A.P. Thanks

A stock Radiator is around $175 and you know that it will work. Get a used one and maybe its all plugged up or leaking too. I would not Gamble with anything but a new radiator.

If your going to go through the trouble of fabbing up a mounting solution for a different radiator, why not just use a Griffin or Afco? Afco has a 2.5" core Dual Pass in a few different sizes that even keeps the hose inlet and outlets close to stock. All aluminum and can be had for around $200.

I will most likely just buy a new radiator after this weekend, but I cannot get one to me before then, so I wanted to know if anyone had done something similar with one out of like a toyota or something.

If you get the copper one, sand off the hose connections to bare copper. The paint can flake and cause a slow leak.

Griffin Radiators is another option.

^ What I would consider. Similar price to a OE replacement and 3x the size.

How about Buy a Used rad?..OR I got the TOP Plastic piece..off a Scrap rad.Buy it!..actually,another Idea..the Top of the rad can come right off,IF you take those Tines that Secure the Plastic to the Rad core and Bend them Back..On the inside there is a big thin Rubber seal. Now,If you take the Top off,get some RTV(Sealant),and Go to town, but make sure that you don't block the coolant passages.Put the top back on and Crimp the Tines, and Presto!./you should have a Rad that doesn't leak..cost?..about Three dollars,Plus antifreeze.

I checked the local junkyards yesterday for a rad. with no luck. So I took mine apart today and it looks like I can fix it. What a simple design the radiator is. There was some green and yellow build up and some black hard buildup. The seal still looks fine though. Slight pitting in part of the top plastic and aluminum middle piece. I scraped it all out and will see if I can get it working before this weekend. DIY FTW.
