Using fuel tank drain for inline pump?

Wondering if anyone has just put a standpipe of some sort in this location to supply an external inline pump?

I know this isn't the best idea with fuel slosh and all. But with a 16 gallon tank I could just always run it 1/2 + full of fuel. This is not a daily driver. And my local 1/4 mile track is close.

Any other simple ways route to supply 1 large inline fuel pump? I'd like to maintain the factory tank. And I need -8 supply and return.

Why not just source from the stock location?

Because I'm using a large external pump and need a large -8 fuel supply/return.

Running a bit north of 1200hp worth of fuel.

Still seems easier to tap from the stock location. Modify the cap for your fitting. Pretty simple in my mind...maybe it works different in real life, but my way at least won't dump a tank of fuel on the ground in the event of a mishap.

I'd be running a fuel cell if I had that much power..it isn't streetable.

I would have went into more detail but it wasn't really relevant to the post.

The car is only a low 10 sec car, I drive all over town. It's very streetable. (3.08 rear gear) I'm upgrading to E85 this year. So it's really only putting down a bit more than 600whp.

I would use a cell, but I like the huge 16 gallon tank. Esp. since I'll be going through fuel alot faster with the e85. Not to mention the stock look and easy fill up at the pumps.

Should also mention this is not a rotary.... but it is an 86 gxl.

Thanks.

here's a link that has a few pics in page 4 and 5 of a custom made -an fitting cover for the factory fuel tank, even shows fuel line routing and a lot of really nice work.
