Upper radiator hose

Can you re-route the upper radiator hose?
Like move it so it isn't right in the way of the giant open area it takes up? Or does it have to go just the way it goes for effeciency purposes? Thanks |
it can be done....people use rads with the upper inlet on the vehicles left side, and therefore need to pipe the coolant all the way over there......
but I beg the question - why? |
why and where would you move it to?
|
I dunno where I would move it... I wanna move it so I can free up the space it takes up for a forced air induction system (ramair) and for it to work effectivly I need it to be a straight in kinda setup. I don't wanna have things (expecially hot radiator hoses) going through the enclosure since it will be sealed in some way from the engine bay and therefore heatsoak will be no issue at all.
|
There is no such thing as ram air, except at something like 150+MPH. The only thing you will get is a cold-air intake, and with the enclosure you are talking about, a lot of unnecessary weight in metal.
Do it the right way, put it in the bumper.. |
mmm... I would beg to differ... since my dads 70 Judge has ram air and mmm... it doesn't need 150 mph to be useful.
it would be a cold air yes, but it would also be forced into the intake (I would assume) at any speed above like 20 as long as it is a somewhat direct route. which is my aim with moving the radiator hose. |
oh crap, ive seen this fight before.....

Let me ask you this honest question: What kind of HP gains do you expect to gain by not having air flow around a warm radiator hose? I will even answer that for you: .0000001hp P.S. What difference does ram air or make when it's 90 degrees out? NONE |
well ive never heard of ram air on an fc but i would say if it was done right you might be able to get a tad bit better air flow. i wouldnt know if it would be enough to be able to tell a difference or anything but it would probably be more for show. because it would probably look pretty damn cool.
