Universal FC ECU Code Puller

Would you people be interested in an error code puller? Mazdatrix sells one for around 500$usd that appears to show the error code on a 7-segment display. I could probably produce units that give the display in blink codes for 50$usd or so. This unit would work for both s4 and s5, but would be most usefull for s4 (since they don't have a built-in code display).

S5's have this built in dont' they?

Is this a joke? 2 LEDs and a code list, and your golden!

Yes, s5's blink (atleast lowlevel) error codes at the CEL.

Antilock Brake System? If my car had ABS, I'd consider it :) Since I have no vehicle to test on though...

No, this is not a joke.

Many people do not have the electronics knowledge to make a home-blinker kit. Others don't have the time. Still others have a home kit already, but would like something better... A snap on plug instead of bare spades, a 'professional' looking package instead of a couple dangly wires, brighter display, light shielding, the and the list could go on.

I plan on having all of these features on my units if I have enough demand to produce them. If anyone would like to see additional features, don't hesitate to leave a message in the thread.

If I get enough sales of this unit, I might implement a 7-segment display unit to replace the blinkers, as well as a 7-segment add-on module for any customers who already have purchased the blinker model.

That tells you how to configure the LEDs. I dont think you would get much business selling this for 50 bucks. cost about 4 bucks total from radioshack. If you sell it for maybe 10 bucks it might be worth it. Now if it was a number display then that would be worth 50 bucks.

Sure, people can make their own... I'm all for that. But you have to think about it like this...

If you are a novist marksman and want to save some money, you could make your own pistol to toy with. But if you're a professional hitman, you're going to want a Glock that's small, light weight, doesn't set off metal detectors, and has other features like quick release clips, laser sights, and easy dissasemble for field cleaning.

I think the ECU reader is similar to this principle. If it's just for personal use, I'd recommend saving your money for something else, and building the teamfc3s version. If you have a professional repar shop though, I'd not be caught dead with one of those rinky-dink looking pullers.

And yes, btw; the teamfc3s puller works just fine, though it's hard to see in direct sunlight.
