un usual jdm swap PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

:wallbash: :Wconfused
I have an 86 na and I just bought a jdm turbo motor out of an 89 to 92 and I am down grading it by puting my stock intake and every thing off my 86 na on the jdm turbo block. untill I can get a turbo rearend, hood, computer and tranny, but I nodiced the location for the egr valve on the jdm turbo is not the same as the location of the us na motor. I mean it has the spot on the block but the holes are not there what do I have to do to make this work or can I get around having the egr valve? any help would be apreciated thank you for your time.

You cant use an NA intake If the turbo isnt one there, you will have oil spraying everywhere, among having other things wrong.

You need an S4 T2 throttle body, AFM, and pressure sensor, and S4 T2 ECU.

use your stock harness and use those parts on the jspec engine, and it will work.

Oh, yeah, you'll need to bypass the resistor pack, and add S5 injector connectors.

Youll need an S5 NA flywheel and a good na clutch to install it to your drivetrain, do not use an S4 flywheel.

even though i am striping it down and just using the jdm block only and nothing else and using every thing from my na block

yep, think about it you will have to plug oil sources, collant sources, change injecots,i can go on, trust me you might as well go turbo now and save yourself the hassle and extra money.

Rotary_Rocket_87 03-15-08 05:24 PM

I agree, just go turbo now. Your na rearend should hold up until you replace it, as long as you don't abuse your car too much.

ok so the bare jdm turbo block wont work for a na with the egr valve port not being there and the oil line for the turbo being blocked and swaping the fly wheel and oil pan and all the othe components from the na to it. see i just wanted to get it on the road till i could come across a turbo 2 that had a bad motor and rob the parts off of but if thats not goin to work then im hosed and i just wasted 1300 dollars

ramello 03-15-08 09:00 PM

yea itll cost you more now to get that engine working as an NA than it would to go buy a blown turbo car now or just go turbo from the get go

Why cheap out...this is possibly the worst aspect to cheap out under...just do it properly then you wont have to worry about it..

i recently just did this swap in a 86 with the s5 t2. if u remove al the emmissions and remove the rats nest use the na harness you can use the na injectors or bypass the resistor pack. u can use your na afm bock off and plug the injector holes for the omp run premix. also you will need to take the the tps mounting bracket off your t2 remove the sensors put on the one from your na on the outermost mounting spot a move a few wires around on your ecu harnes its like 2 or three only if using the knock sensor. which isnt mandatory. also u will need a s4 bps and ecu. use n333 n332. now this will save you money untill you get some to buy a t2 or get all the essentials u need like the RIGHT SHIT.

if you want it to be done right though just either save up for all the right parts or buy a t2 with a blown motor make sure it is a s5 model for the eisiest swap.

im not tryin to offend anyone but im just tryin to help you out wit my experiences.
here are some good links to help out.

uhhmmmm....

how do you use a 6 port manifold (N/A) on a 4 port block?why not add a crane cam to the mix as well and a HEI ignition while your at it.

myersprostatus 03-17-08 01:50 AM

why would you do so?
your gonna have to do a shitload of things to make the engine compatible with the car so might as well just stick with everything s5

i did this swap
and it is a pretty big pain.

you have to buy an s4 turbo front cover, waterpump, throttle body, omp, turbo drain tube, new linkage for tb and omp
not to mention the wiring is extensive.
youll have to bypass your solenoid resistor package which isnt difficult. are you keeping your smog pump? if so extensive splicing and wire extensions required.

if you want to run premix just blok off your OMP
if you want to go with no smog pump, just block off your pump.
mines almost done and i need the money for the exhuast so i can start it up. good luck if you have any other questions you can message me too.

Ex-Eg-Driver 03-17-08 01:54 AM

So how much did you pay for the motor?
