Two oil coolers in FC

Hey guys

With FMIC i had problems with oil temps getting sky high (110C) just cruising. Ducting did not really helped, so i installed second oil cooler. I was just lazy to have anything fabricated, so i just used set of RB oil cooler lines i had laying around and after few hours of testfitting we found location for both coolers in combination with hoses i had available. Its running in series, both oil coolers still have in there thermostats. Oil temps stays down to 85C on highway cruising and on harder driving (high rpm, no speed) it does not go over 90C. Oil pressure at idle is between 1.5 to 2 bar, at 2500 rpm around 4bar and over 3000rpm 5bar. I am using RB 85psi oil pressure regulator.

Overall i am happy with results so far, even it was meant just like temporary install. Eventually might opt for even higher pressure regulator or better oil pump.

Have not really tried it in hard boosting, breaking in engine for 3rd time now ;)

Would like to see post from others who are running 2 oil coolers and their experiences/pictures etc.

Thanks

I've heard of people doing that with excellent results on racecars and such. I'm surprised you had so much heating before. The one does a pretty good job. I should've looked at the pics. It must really be blocking, the fmic.

Very interesting way you got it mounted. Good to hear that it worked for you. I might have to consider that for mine....the summer heat here in FL is no joke.

Why cant places sell upgraded oil coolers to go with larger FMIC's and such. I mean you can upgrade your entire cooling system cept for the oil systems. Does such a place exist??

In one car I have two oil coolers. Unfortunatly I have the oil temp sensor in ....the pan instead of where it should be. The temps stay in the 180 to 190 degree range. Again, pan temperatures. I have not a clue what the temps were prior to the install. I did it just to have something to do with one of the spare oil coolers. Some cost involved with the fittings and the hoses. Someday I'll just put a couple of number ten hard caps on the outlets to the second cooler to see what normal temps are. Someone else has dual coolers on this forum and has posted pictures etc.

You can get competition oil coolers from mazdaspeed or Rb and the like but it'll cost a pretty penny.

after few hot days and boost runs, i must say it works good, oil temps does not go over 90C and watertemps stable as well....
