turn signal won't turn off when going right
 

hey so ever since i got into my accident my right turn signal wont shut off automatically. I broke the passenger front control arm and bent the front subframe. That is all replaced now, and the passenger side wheels. The car drives fine again, and now it just needs an allignment. Do you guys think that once its alligned it will be fixed? Do you have any ideas on how i can fix it? Thanks!

I have somewhat the same problem. Somebody swapped in the s5 steering wheel. But when they did that, they never hooked up the "auto kick off" for the blinker. So, that doesn't work at all, and the horn is dead, which I may blame on them not hooking it up right, since they messed the blinkers up.

i'm curious how to fix this, as well.

I got used to not having an "auto turn off" thingy for the blinker with my 90 Mercury Topaz. But then I got spoiled again with my N/A...haha.

I have the exact same problem, with the exact same circumstances (needed to replace my driver side control arm). Now my left turn blinker won't go off either :P

I'll let you know if it fixes things after I get it aligned.

Me too. haven't looked into it, I think they're some sort of cam type thing in the steering column to turn off the blinkers, but My horn doesn't work either... going to look into it soon.

Horns are a must w/ all the morons out there trying to run into my poor little rx...

There is what is called a clock spring in the wheel. So when the wheel is turned it will release the turn signal. Sometimes they can snap if put back together wrong. If the wheel was not messed with then is sounds like somethin in the wiring

Maybe you need a new blinker, check autozone. Shouldn't be more than $5-10. They do go after a while in other cars but, then again, I've never had any problems with mine and I never had to replace Roxie's.

You said you need an alignment. If the steering wheel is not centered it may not trip the clock spring. Get the alignment and then look to fixing/replacing the clockspring if that doesn't fix it.

okay I'll give that a try. The reason I posted this is because I was gonna get it alligned today, but they are busy till Friday

So I got my car aligned today... didn't really help, I still have to manually turn off my signal.

I think it's because I broke my rack and pinion, so the shop I brought it to used a rack and pinion from one of their project FCs in the back. I suppose they didn't properly hook up the turn angle sensor or something... I have to turn my steering wheel about 150 degrees in the opposite direction of the turn (after straightening out the wheels) to cancel the signal.

The turn signals are controlled by the circuit board in the flasher CPU. It is not a $10 part. It is a $80 circuit board.

Your steering position sensor is broken or not aligned correctly.

There is not a clock spring in a FC.

There is a steering position sensor that needs to see the steering wheel correctly aligned to the steering position sensor for the turn signals to turn off.

Note, that if the signal only does not turn off when you have your parking lights on, then you have the wrong turn signal bulbs in the front turn signals.
