Turn on car, car dyes... hold gas till warm up, rough idle.... HELP PLEASE!!!
 

When i turn on my car and i dont hold the gas, the rpm will juss drop to zero and die... have to hold the gas until it warms up then it doesnt die (as easily) the idle is also pretty rough, tried adjusting the TPS, but guess ill take another shot at that...

any ideas on why the car would die like that???

Man it seems like you have all kinds of problems with your car.
No the TPS wouldnt cause it to do that. It sounds like you have an issue with the system that bounces the idle back up when it gets low. i forget what it's called but i kno where it is. You should check your idle and check the throttle. Start it up and once you get it running go under the hood and mess around with the throttle for awhile. It should give you some idea on what is goin on with your car.

Hey dude it sounds like u had the same problem as me, check ur TPS with a mulitmeter theres a post on this forum somewhere on how to do it, thats how i learnt. By the way does the car sound like it misses when u rev it up on the spot and hold it around 1500-2000rpm and under load it doesnt miss at all? If this does happen the next thing u should do is a compression test!!!

It could be a vacuum leak, or it could be a blown apex seal.

If it's a blown apex seal, it'll be down on power throughout the RPM band. If it's a vacuum leak, it just won't idle, and will smooth out at higher RPM.

i second vac leak as it just recently fixed this problem for me. found a vac line off of vac port right underneath the throttle body sort of.
how much vac are you pulling at idle if you have a boost guage? I was pulling 15, plugged that in and got 18ish inhg, but my buddy with a streetport is getting just under 20inhg at idle. looks like ive still got another leak or two to fix.

hhmmm, im hanging the vac juss below 20, what is it supose to read if its free of leaks?... power seems pretty good and smooth. hhmmm, will a vac leak cause it to dye at warm up though? someone told me something about thermo wax or sumthing, but also sumone said it shouldnt matter about that... so, ill check for a vac leak and mess with the tps a little more.

any other symptoms of blown apex seals or bad compression?

hmm i had the same problem when i first got my car it went away after i did a tune up etc. spark plug, wires, oil change.

thermowax would not matter if the car is warmed up
it aids cold starting

am have the same problem i took my car to the madza dealer and check it and the said it was a vacumme leak it was under my intake manifold because he sprayed it with carb cleaner and it idle fine and also it would idle good when i would touch the gas, it would idle perfect a 2 rpm but its to high so now i have to take out my intake manifold and start looking for it does anybody know how to spot it???
