turbo2 engine with 4.88 gears??

Hi guys, I would like to know if it is a crazy idea to use a turbo2 engine with 4.88 gears? whats the highest you can use a gear set on a turbo2 engine? 4.30 ?

Thanks

You can use as high gear sets as you want, its just going to change the speed at rpm of the car drastically.

If the car is only for racing like autocross or drag, the 4.88's would be great. however if you plan on DD'ing the car on the highway at 60-70, your going to be at about 2.5 or 3k rpm in 5th gear.

I had a 12a installed on my car with 4.88 gear and thats why I am asking if I can use the turbo2 with those gears sets because I have to drive the car like 92miles back home:lol:

I really dont like 4.88 gears on the highway but I want to make sure that I can make this trip back home without blowing anything:).

Turbos like to be loaded up a bit, and a taller gear will keep the car in the powerband longer. Boost will drop off between shifts and may actualy slow you down a bit due to the numerous shifts as you get up to speed. If you are going for a high HP build, 4.10s may be better.

I wouldn't do it on a big turbo. Stock or a small hybrid only.

thats gonna slow you down quite a bit on the top end. i know i wouldnt do it. im trying to go lower!
