Turbo Wastegate Operation
 
How exactly does the stock wastegate work on the 2nd gen cars? At idle there is vacuum on the line going to the wastegate actuator and the actuator is actually pulled all the way in, and comes all the way out as the pressure in the line goes up. Is the wastegate closed to start, and then opening up as pressure comes up? or vice versa. I've been trying to set up a manual boost controller, but it will not allow this vacuum at idle to get to the wastegaste, and it seems like the turbo responds faster when I allow this vacuum to act on the wastegate(boost controller disconnected).

And how does the little switching plate on the inlet of the turbo play into this issue. It is designed to switch exhaust gas from primary to secondary turbo inlet as RPM's pass 2700?

I think wastegate is open normally and then closes under positive pressure.&nbsp I dunno model FC you're running?&nbsp In my experience, I've found that running an MBC as a restrictor was better than running it as a bleed-off.

2,800RPM is the official number but close enough...
