The turbo spool, but no boost!

Hi!
I did the emission removal mod, with all the solenoid and i re-did all the vacuum on my 87 TII.
Now, when i run the car, the turbo is spooling good, but i see noboost on my gauge.

Is it possible that this lack of "boost pressure" is caused by my new vacuum line going to the BOV?
Cause there is vacuum at the bov when the car idle(when there is vac on the bov, the bov stay open). And if the BOV stay open, it will never be able to create boost.
I dont know if the stock line have some sort of "restriction"... please help me.

are you getting boost but its not registering on your gauge or are not getting any boost???

hugo20 08-27-04 05:46 PM

not getting any boost

FB II 08-27-04 05:53 PM

so your car is slow as nawlz eh? :( sux

hugo20 08-27-04 05:56 PM

so my car is slow as a fucken N/A without auxilary port hahaha.

But i dont really care, because i just swaped the TII engine in my GXL, so its still in beta test ;) But i need to fix it soon.

Help me guy.

Im getting no "boost feeling", but the turbo is spooling.

Its not a intake leak, cause i got -20 at idle.
What i think is: the fucken blowoffvalve stay open.
Or the wastegate is broken.

Anyway to check this out?

is it aftermarket bov? or is it stock. if its aftermarket, tighten the bolt adjustmen to stiff, mine did that and it was leaking some vac through it before.

hondahater 08-27-04 08:07 PM

the only time that did that to me was when I didn't have my negative battery cable tightend so my msd ignition wasn't getting power or anything else that needed a good ground so my leading coils where not firing so my car was not fast but my turbo was spooling to like 5 and 8 psi.

Ok, im back with some news.

Its not the BOV, i tried tonight.
Next thing to check is the wastegate... maybe i forgot something when i ported it.

i think i had the same problem. my boost comes in really slow, like a big boost creep, and only goes to like 5lbs instead of the usual 9 or 10. well yesterday me and my dad were trying to figure it out, i checked all my vac lines, checked the bov, and finally reached down under the turbo to the wastegate. off of the waste gate, that little rod that goes to the actual valve on the turbo seems to have come unhooked or something. *sorry, im new, so i dont know the terms* so next weekend im going to either take the turbo off, or see if i can get it without taking it off.

wrong vac hose on the bov? you want vac from any connection that is after the throthle plate (normaly the one that goes to the preasure sensor is used).

wrong vac hose connected to the boost controller?, so it dont let the WG be closed enugh to build good boost.

forgot to tighten the TMIC clamps so the boost leaks out?

Also ... there is a restrictor pil in one of the lines that go from the turbo to the oem boost controller, dont loose that you might want to put that into the new vac if you get wierd boost movement under load.

hahahhahaha i have no more problem :) This thread is like 2 mounth old...

But i will told you what WAS the problem...
I forgot a "rag" (I dont know if its the correct english term, but its a piece of clothes that i used to prevent dirt to enter my TB), so, i forgot the RAG before the TB, so there were boost before the TB, and no boost after the TB :)

I know its a funny story, but i learned something from this, when you take your time the first time to prevent dirt to enter anywere, take the same time when you re-install :)

LMAO...you basically inserted one hell of a cheap restictor plate in there. Nice.

hahaha. aye .. that can lead to boost issues! :)

Super old post, but I am reviving this for me. I just recently bought a 87 turbo 2 back in fall and there is no boost. The previous owner said the turbo was replaced around the 60k or 80k, he also thinks the car may not be bososting because of low compression. The turbo is fine and the waste-gate seems to be functioning as is. The restrictor pill was missing, but I replaced the line and added a restrictor pill to the MAP sensor. I replaced some vacuum lines on the passenger side, I have not done the firewall or driver side. The car does see vacuum and boost, but the boost gauge doesn't read pass 0 psi.

What is there that I am missing? Will the emissions delete help with this?

Best thing to check first is to seal the turbo inlet, disconnect the map sensor line, and use that port to blow compressed air into the manifold. Put a pressure gauge on another line, and give it about 10psi. You should find some leaks.
