turbo pics and questions
 

just got the intire turbo off and found a couple of things.

1. wastegate when closed is not closed all the way, it has about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch gap. Should this be normal or should it be closed tight when closed?

2. My twin scroll has been deactivated for a while now however I still have that actuator at the bottom of the turbo. Can I take this off and take out the flapper in the exhaust manifold?

3. I have 2 or 3 cracks on the exhaust ports on the turbo, I know this is normal however I was just wondering if these cracks are too bad (see pics)

The wastegate flap should be held hard against the housing. If it isn't then the actuator spring may be broken.

The wastegate pics are far too blurry to tell anything. Take the rear plate off and take some better photos, including one showing the actuator and how it's connected to the wastegate arm.

This won't be causing your no-boost problem.
