Turbo kit or not??
 

i have been looking to upgrade my n/a to a turbo for a couple of months with no luck in finding a TII at the junkyard or from local sale. I searched the RX-7 store and found this http://66.216.67.51/product.asp?0=220&1=314&3=476 , is this a turbo kit or a turbo upgrade? If this is a turbo kit, what other stuff would I need to run this setup properly? Any info would be appreciated.

Considering the link you show actually says "turbo upgrade" in the product description.... I think you can figure it out.

No turbo conversion kits currently exist, and I think its a bit of a pipe dream that they will.

Why are there NO turbo kits available for the RX-7?? Tons of other cars have turbo kits for their car, even though they are expensive. But anyway if I were to buy this "upgrade" what other turbo parts would I need to run this properly, since I wouldnt need the turbo,downpipe, tubing, wastegate, and the rest of stuff that comes with it?

B/c there is already a turbo model offered. You want a turbo, buy a turbo car, and upgrade from there. Turbo engines are built for boost, so that's why the aftermarket focuses on them.

Toyota and Nissan Turbo cars don't have NA conversion kits either (that I know of)

Sure they do. You can buy turbo kits for the MKIV Supra N/A's as well as the Nissan 240SX (of course they aren't turbo unless your in Japan). I am pretty sure I saw an after market kit for an N/A 300zx as well.

Now I have looked for the 2nd Gen RX7 but haven't seen any. But I didn't look that hard. I am fixing to start looking again, in the next few days.



QUESTION. Will the turbo manifold from the TII fit onto the regular 13B?

If so this takes care of al the problems. You can build your own kit for under $1500. Probally cheaper than that. You just have to find good used parts from the salvage yard.

Also, as far as Toyota goes. TRD they have superchargers for darn near every model they make. They rock, when it comes to after market parts.

Hmmm, how long do they drive around on your "kit". Do they just take off the one on their car and send it to you and then "build" a new one for themselves? Mighty Nice of them to break in your Turbo.

Weren't these guys buzzin the forum last year braggin on their "kits"

Where are your dyno tests?
How do you tune this "kit"

I can put together a turbo kit from the salvage yard for that price. You cant get new manifolds and turbo, intercoolers for that. Aint no way.

Has anyone installed a kit from hardcore? Aaron, this question is aimed primarily at you since you seem to be the resident NA to turbo conversion man. BTW, how is your car running and how much boost are you pushing so far?

Yes does anybody have the hardcore kit?? Ive been looking around at their site and im getting a little skeptical about this kit.

I'm not skeptical about the kit, just curious if any have been sold and how the owners like them etc...There is no reason it shouldn't work, the quality of the kit is what is most important. It sounds like anyone can piece the kit together themselves, but the best part of buying a "kit" is being able to bolt it on without issues of fitment, fabrication and measuring not to mention funtionality meaning that all supplied pipes, hoses and brackets are made to take abuse and mileage.

I don't know of anyone who has the Hardcore kit, but it is based around a design a few years ago by VtekEater. He's a member here that stops by occasionally. From what I hear, his ran pretty well for 2 years, until he "upgraded" to a TII engine.

My car has been running fine, with a few minor issues. I will be making a status post in a little while after I get on a dyno, swap in a Fluidyne rad, and put in a full 3" exhaust.

I've had it up to 10 PSI.
