Turbo Hood on a NA car?
 

A quick question, Can you put a Turbo hood on a NA car? I think the answer is yes, but I just wanted to make sure. I have a 90 GTU and I have a line on a '88 Turbo hood. My old hood is trashed in an accident. I searched everywhere in the forums without any success.

will the scoop cause cooling problems? i heard that it can if there's no intercooler there.

well, i know that... i like T2 hoods too... but i mean like water while driving in the rain and stuff like that...

nope...I had a TII hood on my NA while my TII was under the knife...

There are talks of overpressurizing the engine bay but I dunno bout that.

possible diffences in weight between steel and aluminum is all i can think of, but im not sure which hoods are which material

How on earth will you "overpressurize" the engine bay? It's not like it's very sealed...

ok... this is how i think the deal works, in theory

the engine bays on fcs don't "breathe" very well. air comes into the bay and has a hard time getting out. with the scoop on the tii hood, you are basically ramming more air into the engine bay. this extra air being stuffed in raises pressure in the engine bay slightly. this increase in pressure could cause less air to come in through the front and pass through the radiator.



now whether or not that actually makes a difference, i have heard no proof. i am curious about it though.

Just buy the TII hood on then put on something like one of these reverse vented scoops on and make it functional(or at least one would assume it would pull air out, haven't seen any proof). If your hood is damaged, you need another one and you've found a TII hood locally for a deal over an N/A... just fricken get it. Its best to go with your own instincts when it comes to the cosmetics of the car. Else you'll end up with a car that looks like what everyone else wants and not what YOU(the most important opinion) wants.
