TURBO GUYS!!!! wastegate plumbing...

My turbo builder didn't put a nipple fitting on the compressor housing for the wastegate to hook up to...

I've been told I can just drill and tap the intercooler piping on the turbo side since its pressureized as well and put a nipple fitting there and run that to the wastegate so it will open.

Is that true??? Can I do this??

Drill/tap compressor housing or drill/tap intercooler piping???

Thanks all.

Drill / tap compressor housing.

I use a port off the intake manifold...

It doesn't matter where it is so long as it sees positive manifold pressure. You do understand how a wastegate works correct?

The compressor housing is usually the best spot for thermal efficiency and limiting the boost to a set value, although response is a little slower. You can use the intake plenum if boost response (and torque) is more important than heat control (detonation). You can use the intercooler plumbing as a compromise between the two, but make sure you place the nipple between the intercooler and the throttle body.

Yes, I know how it works. I've just been reading this and that from people. I'm going to the intercooler piping for pressure source.

Mods can close. Thanks all.

Hmmmm. I'm doing intercooler piping 8 1/2 inches from my compressor housing outlet.. That's before the intercooler. I've been told to do this..
