Turbo guys, some advice please.
 

I've been thinking of buying this TII for sale. The thing is nice with some great mods.
New street ported motor, FMIC, port matched intake manifold, Stock turbo rebuilt and modified flows 850cfm, SDS programable EFI, Full 3" Racing Beat exhaust, intake cone.

The first thing I thought of was the Stock wastegate and boost creep. Then I noticed he has no fuel mods. I asked the guy if he ever noticed any boost creep and he said no. He said the EFI needs more tuning and he has never redlined it under a load with the new motor.
My main concern is will I be running lean and will the boost be dangerously high?

Also, how did you guys with standalone EFI tune without a dyno?

1. How much is the person asking?
2. Can he prove the motor was rebuilt?
3. Get it tested for compression.
4. He does have a fuel mod, the 850 secondaries. Only problem is, there is nothing in the car to tune it whatsoever. So, for all you know, it could be running terrible rich until WOT.
5. If he doesn't have a boost gauge, get one. Presuming it's making good power, and idling good, it sounds like a good buy. I'm guessing a stock rebuilt turbo, not a hybrid turbo, so try to keep it around 10 psi if and when you get a gauge (or see it on the one he has).
6. Look into rewiring the fuel pump, or walboro, and perhaps a S-AFC. Then some time on a dyno.

How do people tune without a dyno? They have their own wideband O2 sensor. But since they are (for the most part) terribly expensive, best bet is to hit the dynos. If your terribly concerned with boost creep, see if he still has the stock airbox, and put it back on. That should drop the boost a few psi with that exhaust...

He said the turbo was modded to flow 850cfm, not 850 secondaries. SDS is Simple Digital System programable EFI. It is pretty much a Haltech without needing a laptop. I guess I should have explained more. The intake is a good idea. My main concern was overboosting with the stock wastegate, and running lean(in othere words, will the stock fuel system, excluding the new ECU, handle these mods). Thanks for the help Josepi. SDS is crap.&nbsp I've known guys who have tried and ended up throwing it all away in digust.&nbsp The SDS doesn't fire the split properly, and typical correction factors (air temp, water temp, barometric) are either not there or do not function that well - this makes for a poorly running daily driver.
