Turbo conversion into an N/A
I no i have read some post about turbo conversion but i didnt really find out about the question i am goin to ask
I was just wondering if the N/a differential will bolt on onto a 13bt motor with tranny, if i was going to convert my n/a into a turbo or should i just say will it be just a complete bolt on if i were to swap the turbo motor because i am plannin on ordering the motor soon......thanks |
I couldn't tell what tranny you were using, so here goes - If you use the turbo tranny and NA diff, I believe you need a special driveshaft and use the turbo clutch.flywheel. If you use the NA tranny with the turbo motor, you use the NA driveshaft and NA clutch/flywheel.

The t2 shaft and rear end have a larger dia. and bolt pattern. Also the t2 tranny is a bit longer. You'll need a custom shaft or the mazdatrix one. That or a t2 rear end.

Go T2 rearend.. The NA rearend can't handle as much horsepower.. You'l appreciate the beefier diff in the long run
|
I know that the T2 would be better but im just trying to get the car running and in the future i will get it once its running so where can i get the driveshaft at, u guys were saying something from mazdatrix and how much does that cost....thanks

Hey can u tell me which driveshaft to get on Mazdatrix if i were to go with the turbo tranny to the N/a differential....thanks
|
So is that all i would need to get the car running (special driveshaft) with the turbo motor and the turbo tranny in a n/a fc...
|
You'll need a downpipe to hookup your exhaust. I used a Corksport 3" to 2.5". I could hook to my stock system. And you'll need a boost sensor too.
|
As far as driveshafts, I had one custom made by D & R Driveline in Jenison, Michigan for $260. It has a brand new front yoke from an old Chysler. Its the same as the Turbo output shaft. Only it doesn't have the little fan thingy that fits over the tail of the tranny. It has replacable u-joints too.

wouldnt the boost sensors come with the motor if u ordered it...

You also need a lot more then the pressure sensor. ECU, harness, knock box, etc. This is covered in the FAQ (as well as using the NA diff with the TII transmission). |

The last one before they start mentioning aluminum driveshafts http://www.mazdatrix.com/g9.htm 2691-799 The turbo transmission mount is different than the n/a one so you need one of those also, IF it isn't attached to the transmission you buy. |
NA cheaper and less complicated

What's the weight savings on that aluminum driveshaft? Significant?
Side note: The weight of the drive shaft is rotational mass but since it has such a low radius (compared to the wheel) it might as well be non-rotational mass. |
