Turbo Compatibility Question
All right, I just bought a 91 rx7 second gen. It's the non-turbo model and I'm wondering whether it would be better to upgrade the engine and add a turbo or to swap it with the stock turbo engine? Also, if the second option is the better idea does anyone know where I could order that model turbo engine for a decent price. Thanks.

better to swap the engine for a Turbo Rotary than to go through all the necessary work to put a turbocharger on a nonturbo engine.
You looking for a brand new turbo engine or a used one? |
It's all about what you want the engine to behave like, i'm a huge fan of high compression turbo engines, so i've got a slightly biased view, but it probably wouldn't be worth turbocharging your high comp N/A engine unless you can do alot of the work yourself....
So, how handy are you at doing lots of work on your car yourself? :) |
How handy am I? Well since this is my first rotary engine I'd say I'm beginner level. I know how to do a few things to engines, upgrade wise, but I think it'd be smarter to watch and learn than dive head first into it.
I'd be looking for a used engine, if you know of anyone or anyplace that sells them at good prices please let me know. Thanks |
www.nippon-motors.com has used turbo motors imported from Japan for $750. Thats about as cheap as you'll find a used motor unless you deal directly with an individual who is selling a used motor.
