turbo baffle plate
doing a 6 port turbo and cant seem to clarify something. im thinking instead of tapping my pan id use a t2 front cover for oil return. here's my question: is the baffle plate behind the front cover an absolute piece that needs to be there,if so where can i get one besides from mazda, or can i just go without it?

found on a t2 behind the oil pump chain. apparently it keeps oil from splashing off the chain to the return opening. |
The baffle also prevents oil from flowing out of the return and being aerated by the chain.
Installing the TII front cover is a much larger pain then just tapping the NA cover or tapping the oil pan. |
^^^well in tapping the front cover or pan where is a flat enough spot? i personally cant see anwhere to do it.

um arent all the front covers cast with the spot for the turbo drain, and its just not tapped?
the little baffle thing is s4 only, so if the s5's were ok without it, you should be too its like the oil pump chain tensioner, neat, but pointless |
what the freak is that, never seen that. Out of all the motors ive rebuilt never seen that on there, did someone custom make that or something. Mazdatrix doesnt sell that and the Hanes manual does not show that either. Screw it, get rid of it. I just took apart my s4 non turbo and it didnt have that.
