In my (admittedly limited) experience the MS is more sensitive to electrical noise than some of the other options. I had the Zeal pnp kit a few years ago.

The MS is a good ECU, but the DIY part of it scares a lot of people (or should scare them!). Quality writeups help control this but most people don't have the electronics skills necessary. In a way, this is good because it stops people from creating disasters of a MS install when they should go off the shelf and get a Haltech/Microtech/etc. But there is nothing inherently wrong with the Megasquirt.
Just this summer I tuned a Megasquirted 2nd gen with a 13B RE and a GT35R. Put down 380 RWHP and 320 FT-LBS of torque. |

i'm sure it works, Icemark used it in his car for the longest time though he was having issues with timing becoming out of whack sometimes and i don't know of too many people who knew more about electronics than he did. simply put, it isn't for amateurs. i do plan on playing with one at one point but so far it is just easier to install one of the proven programmable ECUs and save the headache for another time.

I drove with the first one on my vert for a year or so till I sold it. I had it on my modded TII for over a year with no issues. And it's not related, but it's been in my Vanagon for years :)

Too many people just plug it in and expect that to be golden, and then start messing with the numbers randomly when they have no tuning experience. X_X |

X_X if you can't afford to play then you shouldn't be playing! i hate people who mod cars and do no research beforehand.. i'm rebuilding one of my old motors because someone with no experience started bolting things on with no experience. |
