Trouble Removing UIM 88 Vert
 

I have everything as far as bolts, hoses and connectors go removed the only thing holding me back are the cables that hold on the throttle body. I tried to unbolt the throttle body from the UIM but it apears to not be able to slide off all the way due to the metal coolant pipe. Is there any way to remove the UIM without removing the throttle cables or a way t o move the throttle out of the way so i can slide the UIM out? I am trying to do the Fuel Pressure Damper repair and im very frustrated because im soooo close to having it off. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. ENGINE IS STILL IN THE VEHICLE DROVE FINE BUT I STARTED TO SMELL GAS WHEN THE CAR WAS IDLING IN THE CAR PORT.

take cable off thottle body, do this by opening throttle and sliding it off the linkage, then take the cable off

what about it is giving you a hard time?

I have bigger hands and cant really see behind the throttle body because it is real close to the firewall. So its hard for me to navigate how to maneuver it to get it off the linkage

Follow the cable along, you'll see a little thing where it clips in that has a nut on either side. Loosen the nut on one side so you can take it out of the clip.

Then, on the side of the throttle body closest to the firewall, pull the linkage down to the throttle open position until the cable is really loose. There is a little "barrel" on the end of the cable that sits in a cradle. There's a little gap where you can slide the cable out once you have the linkage pulled all the way down.

You can see how the cable goes around in a little cradle then the "barrel" hooks in a little hole, you just have to unhook that/push it out of the whole, and pull the cable around until it goes through the slot.

Thank you so much for your help i got it off. I actually just disconnected that whole bracket i was scared to loosen those nuts incase that position was dire to the throttle. I also found that fun funky bolt on the back that holds those small lines against the back of the UIM.

Now its time to clean it all up wait for my pieces in the mail and get her back and running, She's got brand new plugs, wires, and air filter. May do the coolant change next while i wait. The coolant that came out the hoses looked pretty good :icon_tup:(light green) but the coolant in the resovoir looks pretty dark green:icon_tdow.
