trouble installing driveshaft

i just put a new transmision in my car and now im having trouble getting the driveshaft back on. i slid it into the trans but when i try to put it on the diff the bolt coming out of the diff is in the way. i had some trouble getting it off to but i just jerked it and it finally came out.thanks

It's pretty hard to discern what's going on here.

"the bolt coming out of the diff is in the way"

What bolt? Is it one of the 4 flange bolts? If so, then let the parking brake loose, take the trans out of gear, spin the differential pinion flange, take out the bolt, then install the driveshaft.

no those are out. there is a big gold bolt that comes right out of the middle of the diff on a stud between those four bolts. then the driveshaft has a little lip in the middle where it goes over the bolt the lip is in the way so i cant get it over the bolt. its really hard to explain. if the little lip wasnt there it would go on easy. i can get it over the bolt but not the extra little bit of threads that stick out from the bolt. it is literally ] [ that close like an 1/8 if an inch.

i dont know if this helps but thats what it pretty much looks like. the four flange bolts and then a big ass one one in he middle.

is it the stock drive shaft cause i remember when i took mines out in the stock drive shaft where it connect to the diff the is a slot for that gold nut so that it fits. or is it a custom driveshaft if it is then take the old drive shaft and take the end that goes to the diff and swap it out with the new one thats all i can think off hope it helps.

He's right. There's no way that a stock driveshaft is having that problem. Unless... does the slip yoke go ALL the way in? It may not be shoved in the tail of the transmission all the way?

I know what you are talking about, my driveshaft does the same thing.

Just play with it a bit and it will go back on.

it is the stock driveshaft. the little groove for the gold nut is the problem. it has like a lip that sticks out and i cant get it over the gold nut.
