Transmission and Lean issue

Has anyone else ever had trouble getting thier car into gear(5th , rev, 1st, all of them)? Is there an easy fix or quick fix or what needs to be done? Just tonight I tried to put it in rev and it wouldnt go in at all unless I rolled foward about 3 ft. I cant do that all the time. Can anybody help me?
And on the lean issue it seams to be a vacumn leak because im only showing 10-11psi of vacumn and when under boost it will only go to 8 then down to 6.5psi. I have my controller set at 12psi. Any ideas what is causing this? I got my AFC set to full rich at start up then 600 when warmed up and all the other nobs are set to full rich to compensate for the leaning the car is doing. Please help me. Need to get the car going again.

umm, you have 850cc injectors and your afc at full rich???? dude you are drowning your engine. with the 850's in there you will need to run leaner then 0 on the acf. set the acf back to 0 everywhere, it will run better. then save some money and find a local dyno with a wide band 02 to tune it for you. then enjoy your power :)

I cant set it lower now because there is a vacumn leak and the car runs really lean. Im only setting them full rich until I fix it or someone can give me a hint to where to look for the leak.

How do you know the car is running lean?
If you are using an A/F meter- What kind, and are you splicing it off of your stock O2 sensor?
What do your pipes look like? Caked with black carbon, or dark grey?
Does it backfire a lot? Is Your mileage horrible or good?
Do you see brown/grey smoke behind you on acceleration, especially when cold?
You O2 sensor could be stuck in lean condition, giving a false reading.
Try a new one- Rotary heat eats em up quickly.

well the engine isn't going to run right if it's way to rich. which means it's not going to pull much vacum. how do you know it's lean?

your secdarys arn't going to effect your idle but how much richer is your afc at idle?

running lean at idle for a few mins isn't going to hurt. put your afc idle settings so there is no change from stock. and see if it runs better.

if you are running an air/fuel gauge buy a new 02 sensor running your 850's alone would kill it pretty fast. let alone set even richer.

I agree with them about the fact that you have to be running rich. Unless you have like a humungous leak somewhere. About the transmission, its not really your tranny, it is prolly your shifter bushings. They are prone to go bad, look for them at www.mazdatrix.com They are around $20-25 to buy new ones. Then change your tranny fluid and put some redline brand stuff in there. Bleed your clutch and you will notice a HUGE difference.

Thanks for the help, ill try that. And for the Lean issue the only thing telling me its running lean is my a/f monitor. When it starts to get above 3500 or 4000 rpms the a/f will just drop all the way off lean. But any other time it will stay at rich or just under.

On the shifter THING. I've had cars that had this trait in the past. Your sitting in the driveway, go for reverse and can't get in. I found that if this scenario happen to me, I'd go shift to first, then to second and then put it in reverse. I know zip about transmissions. I just know that after being shifty like this, I could then get the thing in reverse. When I say shift into first, second etc, I don't mean put it in first, move the car put it in second, move the car. I mean just chunk it in first shift then to second, put it in reverse and move backwards. I know not what moves inside the gearbox to make it possible now to get it in reverse, it just happens. It really takes but a second to do and becomes second nature to do. Try it. It might work for you. Might not. Who knows. The Shadow knows. Have fun.

Ya I do that by habit myself in all cars. Usually works best for me in I put it in 3rd then 4th, then reverse. Think it lines all the gears up or something. Not sure at all though.
