Transmission Gear Part

I am having my s4 Turbo trans rebuilt, and I am trying to find the 2nd gear itself for my trans. Mazda sadly has discontinued making all the gears, but they still make all the other internal parts for them, go figure, so I am in need of one. Any help would be great.

Brandon,

If FD or Rx8 stuff works I might have one for you, I've never compared em side by side..

pretty sure the FD gears are the same but you likely will need to use the associated syncros with that gear swap.

seriously doubt an 8s tranny is the same or even remotely close, it probably more resembles an n/a tranny and has smaller gears.

other possibility is just find another TII tranny and build one good tranny out of 2 old ones.

yea I had parts guys at a local mazda dealer check the part numbers, for a s4,s5,and s6, and they are all different part numbers. So I think I'm going to go the make 1 good one out of 2 route....

IF anybody has one of these please PM me.....if it's a gear in good shape

Likely if you are grinding in gear, it isn't the gear - its the syncro.

Typically what you want to replace in a rebuild are the syncros and all the main bearings.

If you've truly damaged a gear - throw it away and use your money to rebuild a tranny in better condition.

I know it's a gear because I have the trans tore apart, and can see the teeth ground off on the gear. I am now trying to get a J-spec trans to rebuild.

I have an S4 T2 trans that I'm not gonna need anymore. it's in good shape except for the second gear synchro. I used it for about 7K miles and the synchro never got worse. it also has new shifter bushings so it shifts really good and tight. I don't know if you're close or not but I'd be willing to meet you half way if it's under 500 miles or so. PM me if you're interested and we can work out a price.

And I forgot it has nearly new (7K miles) mazda comp trans mounts and crossmember. I'd go pretty cheap too.
