trans spring install
when you install the spring in the transmission that centers the shift lever, how does it sit on the control rod end? mine was broken when it came out, so i have no idea

anyone?
No idea, try it different ways and see if you can get it to work
thank you captain obvious

Hey it's an easy job, don't knock it.
The tranny rebuild section in the FSM has pics. If I remember, it only fits correctly one way. The coil goes in front of the shifter pocket, around the shift rod, and the loop comes up and over the pocket towards the back.
To me it's enough of a pita to install, I don't. |
fsm has pics, but does not show how the spring attaches. but any help is still appreciated.
here is the link for the fsm...http://www.cochran-racing.com/FSM/s4...ANSMISSION.pdf |
its cake!
well then explain how to fix it! where in milwaukee you at fastassturbo2?
anyone? this problem is driving me nuts...
i guess no on knows.......
Bottom line is you have to open the tranny up in order to replace the spring on the shaft. Since you are already I would reccomend to rebuild it.
Or you could just live with it til your tranny starts to go. It will not hurt anything. The springs purpose is to keep tension on the shifter so you dont have side to side play.
i know, the side-play is annoying. im doing an engine swap right now and i figure id fix it while it is out. but since it is out, what would i need to overhaul the trans?
