Trans removal, drain fluid?
 

I may be needing to take my car back to the place where the clutch was done to have a bearing replaced. I'm also planning on changing the trans fluid with Redline, was is raaaaather expensive. Does the trans fluid need to be drained in order to remove the transmission (to get to the clutch)? If so, I'll hold off on the fluid change until after the clutch issue is resolved. I don't want to replace the fluid with expensive Redline and have it drained again in a week or two.

i dont know about needing to drain the fluid to change the clutch. if you remove the whole tranny some oil might come out from the tail housing...if you are careful it shouldnt be much at all.

No. You don't need to drain it todo a clutch job.

buy the redline and have the mechanic put it in when they do the clutch.

Well I went ahead and put the fluid in, the manual says 2.1 US quarts so I bought 3 redline 1 quart bottles. The manual also says to fill up until the fill hole, but after putting in around 2.3 quarts, the fluid was still going in and not overflowing. I didn't want to overfill it so I stopped then. This happen to anyone else or am I misinterpreting something? This is my first trans fluid change for this car.

I thought it was 2.4 lol. I would have filled it to overflowing but hopefully you're close enough. You can stick your pinky in the fill hole to check the level. Should be almost overflowing obviously.

Right, so basically I "can't" overfill it because the fill hole is the definite mark. I'll top it off then.

You can overfill it, a point i didnt see in here yet is that you need to level the car before you fill the transmission. If the car is level then the fill hole will work as designed, if the car is jacked up on the drivers side you can obviously fit a lot more oil in there than was originally intended.
