tranny swap
 
ok my mechanic says that he cannot switch my auto tranny for a 5 speed due to something with the engine. it is the same motor that the 5 speed has in it and i have everything for the manual. is there something else that needs to be done or is he just bullshitin so he dosnt have to do all the work?

All you need is the 5 speed tranny, flywheel, manual driveshaft, crossmember needs to be made (brace), pedals, clutch master and slave cyl and line between them. Follow the link above. That's what I did

Tell your mechanic hes an asshat and read the write up. Actually, don't call him an asshat, just print out the write up and take it to him if you don't plan on doing the work yourself. If after reading the write up, you feel you are able to tackle the task yourself, go for it and save yourself some additional cash. All in all, its not really that complex, the most difficult part is making the cross member/brace.

Do it yourself. It isn't that hard.. I did it in a full day.

i did the conversion in my s4 in like 2 days just have to have the right tools to get that flywheel off and on
