Tranmission Converstion

OK THERES THE DEAL,

MY 1987 n/a is basicly as stock as they come, It is however very clean and has low miles on the enigne, the only thing bad about it is That it Has an auto (HEY I was yougn and dumb when I bought it), So my queston to everyone is How much would I converstion be? is it possible? Does anybody Know what need to be changed? I know it wont be a simple bolt on becuase the Auto's drive shaft is shorter, but besides that what has to be done. And one more thing would it be better to use a GTU tranny if I did it so that the gears would be lower? ANyways anyhelp would be great I am hopinh to do it for as cheep as possbile so let me know.

there is no difference in the tranny gears, it's the rear end that is different.

you would need the tranny, driveshaft, flywheel, clutch kit, pedal set, clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, and clutch hose. I'm pretty sure you also need the tranny cross memeber and mounts.

the ecu's are different too, but I don't think you have to change it.

yeah you can use the auto ecu, plus you'll have some extra wires left over that used to connect to the auto trans.

SO Do you GUYS BELIEVE IT CAN BE DONE FOR ABOUT 1,500 or less?

Scott 89t2 11-22-01 02:21 PM

way under if you do the work. I'm sure you can hunt down all the parts for a few hunred. only pricy thing would be if you bought a new clutch or not.

I'm not sure what labour would be, but I'm sure you could still get it done for less then that.

Definately for under $1500. I bought my tranny for $250 and my whole rear subframe for $250. It is mostly time getting the parts, then the swap should only take you a day by yourself.
