Traction Issues....
 

Hey guys, this thread may be stupid but what else can i do to help me with traction, i'm running 225 yokohama AVS-ES100's on the back and i have traction issues when running in a straight line.... i have coil-overs and all but when i launch all i get is severe wheel spin no matter how much i feather the gas and when i launch normally and pin it, my tires spin like mad....

would a sway-bar kit help?...

grippier tires, and what pressure are you running? try lowering the pressure, this should help some.

how wide are your rims, im sure you couls get some more rubber in the back. 225's can fit on a 7' rim.

sway bars hurt straight line traction.....most people take them off simply because they slow/ appose wieght transfer... also with the coil over setup if your spring rate is too stiff you will not transfer the wieght to the rear, or if you lower the car too much!! My bet is your set up is too stiff!!! Just My Opinion

you can fit a hell of a lot bigger than 225's on a 7' rim...


and yeah, i missed the coilovers... if the suspension is too stiff it will not bite down on takeoff. try loosening up the adjustment.

yea you could put hella big tires on a 7' foot rim, haha sorry, 7' = 7 foot, 7" = 7 inches, ;)

i agree, your suspension is probably a bit too stiff in the rear, AVS ES100's should be sticky enough depending on power, but 225 wide may be a bit small if your making higher power. sway bar kits are to help reduce roll in corners, has nothing to do with straight line.

also what rpm are you tring to launch from ??

hell if its is as bad as you say.... shift.....

i try launching from different RPM's, around 4000rpm and it'll bog pretty bad then the turbo will spool and my traction is gone....

4500rpm and above and there's no traction at all, i raced a mustang GT and the whole way, through 1st and 2nd i my back end was wiggling from minimal traction....

not sure on the rim size, but the 225's sidewalls are flush with the lip of the rim, i was told i can fit 245's on them easy.... 275's mabe...?

32psi i'm running at, tire pressure that is....

i have approx 270rwhp, ( guestimate )....

ok, anyways. Aside from the heckeling. The point im trying to get across is that im sure he has a bigger rim than a 7". So that being said he could get wider tires for the rear. Im sure he could fit a 235 on there, maybe a 245 but im no tire expert

without injectors or pump you might only be makin 250. i have the same set up but with 720s fd fuel pump on a s4....so i might be around the same. ( not positive tho)

i have a walbro 255lph, runs pig rich no matter what....

How are you "launching"?

32 PSI is way high on the negative cambered rear.
Your footprint will be light in the outboard side of the tread.

First try dropping the pressure to around 27.

If that is not enough, then you may need adjustable rear camber links.

crap.... RETed i've tried many ways to launch, dumping the clutch, taking it out a little slower, feathering the gas, you name it i've tried it....

Get wider and grippier tires.

the tires i assumed were sticky enough, as for wide, i'm getting 245's in the rear....

yeah... those are fairly ok tires. but yeah, I recommend at least 245s in the back.

I've had yokohama es 100s in the 225 size and they were nothing spectacular.

You could shove an AWD system into the car, that will solve your traction issue :D

i freakin' wish....

yeah i'm going for 245's in the back, i doubt i can fit 275's but it would be nice....
