TPS Unit??
does an 87 TII have one or not, the guy im trying to buy this TII off of a guy and he says thats the reason its idling funky, but my mechanic said the turbos didnt have a throttle position sensor. so please help me clear this up.
thanks, jake |
yes they do
|
and fire your mechanic
|
haha ok thanks
|
And after finding a new mechanic, get a compression check and check the condition of the turbo before commiting to buying.
|
do i have to take it to mazda to have the check done? or would my mechanic have something to test it? and i cant fire the mechanic tho cause hes a good guy, hes had about 16 1st gens but no 2nd or 3rd gens. he accually builds them to race. so i trust him to work on it. like i said hes just more familiar with 12As not so much 13Bs. and how can i check the turbo? is there a test for that?

thats for the tps unit, what about the compression check? is that done by mazda only?

12a's only? What kind of rotary mechanic doesn't deal with all generations? surely the amount of 12a's in any area cannot support my jock strap let alone a shop. C'mon... don't jerk us off.... No TPS? I guess there's no OMP either? Carb only as well? If you would prefer to live in the stone age then you should continue your current strategy to the fullest. Just do a bridgeport with a carburaetor you'll be just fine farting down the road.

You can buy a compression checker and test it yourself. You could even use a piston engine compression checker if you follow the procedures below

You are not looking for a number at this point because of what I stated above. Just look for very even pulses...there should be 3 in a row. 6) Now close the air relief valve and let it reach a total pressure...this will only take about 3 seconds. 7) This is your compression. If all the pulses from #5 were even, then the number you get in #6 will be the compression all the way around the rotor 8) Repeat with the other rotor. |

Whoops... sorry about that.
