tps question
 

Ok so with this new ride I got Im noticing bucking on deceleration or when im coasting in a gear. This seems to me to be the tps. Now I have my other car same year can I switch them without having to adjust it again. Or when I switch the tps do I need to wait till its cold and then try n adjust it.

It would need to be adjusted if switched. It's done when fully warmed, key to on and the Green/Red wire should measure 1 volt.

I agree. unless you switch the complete throttle body.

When I keep the key on I get a constant clicking noise under the hood, my other car never did this. Anyone know what this is all about?

You're going to have to narrow down where the clicking is occuring from as there are many possibilities/causes for this.

Ok new problem, this clicking happens when I jiggle the tps wire. What the hell could cause a wire to make a clicking noise, never seen this before. If I move the wire just a lil it starts, If I move it the other way a lil it stops.

Could be the Relief or Switching solenoid considering they respond to the voltage values produced by the TPS.

Could you go into more detail it happens with the wire connected and without it being connected.

Im almost willing to bet this is why my battery was dead the other day.

Try disconnecting the Blue plug on the drivers side of the engine where the Emission solenoids are located and see if the clicking stops or not to help narrow down the exact source of your clicking. Plug has two wires, one Black/White and the other Blue/Yellow.

I have all the emission stuff removed, including the rats nest. I see the blue plug its chilling with the other 3 for that rack. All the plugs are disconnected. The tps plugs look corroded as well, looks like Ill need to clean them.

Update- i switched tps's from my old car to the new one cause I couldn't get a reading. Im probaly doing something wrong even though Ive read how to check it 100 times. The car now drives a ton better. Im not getting the bucking effect on deceleration anymore. For the most part shes pretty smooth when Im driving now. The funny thing is I never readjusted this tps because Im almost sure Im not gonna get a good reading.

Black meter lead to a ground source such as the negative battery terminal or alternator housing. Red meter lead stabbed into the back of the TPS plug where the Green/Red wire resides (connector of two plugs "not" disconnected). Key to "on" w/engine as warmed as possible and it should read 1 volt DC.

yea thats how Ive been doing it, Im gonna check it again in a lil while. I still have this clicking noise that almost sounds like a starter would click. Its coming from somewhere by this tps connector. Idk what it is but its bugging me. It only makes this noise sometimes and as far as I can tell only when the key is in the on position.

Does the clicking sound occur after the car has been run, before it's been run or either? Do you have a BAC and if so disconnect the plug to it.

yea ive only noticed it when its been run for awhile. And i did just try n clean the bac. hmm wonder what i did. Also the bac is from my other car too. They both the same year so idk.

What do you mean "you wonder what you did." The BAC normally vibrates right after the car has been running but it really doesn't click.

Follow FSM test method of using LED lights, verify only 1 light illuminates.

well when I first took the bac of my old s4 I did not realize thre was a metal clip holding the connector on. So I was a lil rough with it. Everything looked ok so I went ahead and put it on the new car. Still seems like its doing something but idk. I have time today to go play with it and see if I did break something.
