TPS check for a '91 N/A
 

I was about to use the recenty posted procedure for checking the TPS on my car and found that it is completly different than the guide shows!

Looks like there is 2 sensors, a fine and a coarse sensor, the manual talks about narrow and fine ranges and checking the voltages at the ECU.

Has anybody sucessfully checked these settings?

Well the TPS first: the voltages seem to be within spec for idle through to WOT.

The BAC: the manual tells you to warm up the car then ground the green diagnostic lead, then when you pull off the BAC connector the engine rpm should drop, MINE DOES NOT!

Does the BAC valve have a gasket under the mounting surface?
I would like to take it off and measure the coil resistance and try to attach 12 volts to it to make sure the thing works. Looks lke there is only two 10mm nuts holding the thing down, suggestions?

Also in the process of checking the TPS and BAC I of course removed the two connectors, While the diag pin was gounded the following codes were being flashed by the check engine light:

12: Throttle sensor (full range)
13: Pressure sensor (intake maninfold)
17: Feedback system (oxygen sensor @0.55v)
18: Throttle sensor (narrow range)

Ok, I can see why the throttle sensors may be complaining, the manifold sensor wasn't touched, and the oxygen sensor wasn't
played with either!?

I removed the negative terminal from the battery to reset the the codes, and again grounded the diagnostic connector, no codes were displayed...


So, it looks like the BAC could be a fault, can this be cleaned or taken apart and cleaned? OR do I have to replace it?
