TPS % at WOT

I got my Rtek 2.0 and you are able to data log many of the sensors on the car. I was doing some data logging and noticed that my TPS only goes to 92% max even when I lift the throttle all the way until it is not touching the TPS.
I also tried to pull it all the way out and still 92%.
At idle I can only get it to go to 7-8% (the screw all the out).

Is this normal or do I have a bad TPS. Anyone have a Rtek or other EMS that you can check it with?

The reason I ask is because my car runs lean with the Rtek at it's max +15% fuel correction under boost. I have to use my S-AFC to help richen it up since the AFC has +50% fuel correction. The guys from Rtek said it could be my TPS.

thanks,
ed

it is your tps .... i had the same problum with my n/a . and just recently it starting having falloffs in the % ..... causing my engine to buck .. no good . damn things are expensive to

from what ive read, the tps is only there for decel fuel cut, and for S5's, is also used for the OMP. Mine does the same thing as yours, but i get 88% at wot, 17% at no throttle, after setting the tps using the 2-light method.

I tried turning it down so that at no throttle, it would read 0%, but it was bucked like hell, and it was nearly impossible to cruise at a steady speed. i could feel it cut fuel to each rotor individually. the tps is has to be set just above cruising throttle %, so that it doesnt cause fuel cut too early. The 2-light method sets it for a good compromise between driveability at cruise and fuel economy.

i dont think not reading full 100% at wot will cause any problems, as long as it gives a steady reading throughout the throttle range, without any cutouts. hopefully some of the forum gods will confirm

your TPS is fucked

on an s4, with the narrow range TPS, it should be reading 100% with the pedal like halfway to the floor.

Can you confirm this with data? What did you use to check the percentage?

thanks

something you might want to check is---
when i first bought my tsi it only read 55.9% throttle when i floored it i checked everything i could and how i fixed it was after many years of use the arm of the gas pedal was slightly bent so i reached down and just gave a fair tug and checked it again and presto 100% throttle not saying thats what yours is but give it a try
oops i didnt read that you also had bad readings even when off the throttle
sorry nevermind good luck

It's a series four TPS.

A series four TPS will read one (1vdc) at the ECU pin 2G when the thing is set RIGHT.

A series four TPS voltage range is 0-5vdc.

One volt is 20% or five volts. Therefore your TPS should be reading 20% at idle if the car is fully warmed up.

So, warm the car fully. Look at the Palm and see what the TPS reads. Not 20%? Then turn the TPS screw til the reading IS 20%.

As for the top reading only being 90whatever percent, the best I can say about that is don't even give it a thought. Another TPS MIGHT read a little higher or a little lower. Even a new TPS I'd guess might not read 100 %.

And if you look someday, you'll see that at approx 100 %, the secondary throttle plates are just engaging at about that point. Just FYI.

The series four tps is used for fuel cut when you let off the throtte and also for the proper operation of the Relief and Switching solenoids that control the ACV. There might be another function that escapes me right at this moment.

Thank you Hailers your the man. Damn you are always the one who answers my questions insightfully.

I thought I saw you post you got a Rtek 2.0, I am correct? If so how do you like it so far?

Now if I can just convince the Rtek guys to take off the handcuffs on the fuel maps! I dont like the fact that they only have +/- 15% correction. I have to still use my S-AFC to help map out fuel.
