Most people here tend to dismiss devices like that as simple fraud/obstruction in the intake/etc. As such, I don't know if one has actually been tested.

If you've got the money & time, it would be wonderful to actually read a review of one, possibly with dyno numbers & fuel economy numbers.

From the auction: If you are dissatisfied, return it within 30 days from when you receive,*for a full refund of final bid price. If it doesn't do anything, you're out $10 - the price of shipping. I think it might be worth trying. If it does everything it claims, you'd save money in fuel fairly rapidly.

Waste of time and money. Don't bother. Thread over. :)

but has anyone used it and can say wether or not it makes any difference?

RotaryEvolution 04-18-05 04:26 PM

i doubt even a rotary is an exception to this fraud device...

MRX_Rotary 04-18-05 04:32 PM

Yup, Consumer Reports tried out all these vortex tornado things and it does nothing for fuel economy or power. Heck, $30 for a bent piece of stainless steel...

EDIT: If something this simple, cheap, and easy to make improved fuel economy and power so much, every car would come with one from the factory.

i believe someone in the past posted their results of a small hp loss on the dyno due to the intake restriction.

turbo80cid 04-18-05 08:03 PM

get two and double your hp!!! :)

Hell, send me the money and I'll blow enough sunshine up your ass you'll think you're the smartest, fastest driver on the road! :rlaugh:

Oh, and PT Barnum is waiting for you in the after life.

Look at the throttle body. There's 3 separate chambers. Even if it did work the "swirling" effect would get fucked up there.

pengarufoo 04-19-05 06:48 AM

May improve fuel economy, due to the intake restriction it will be. Similar effect could be had by covering part of your air filter, or shoving a tennis ball under your gas pedal.

Tofuball 04-19-05 07:03 AM

These are useless, though one of them had a proven HP gain one one of chevy's VORTEC trucks!

I have never seen it do anything but waste money and loose power on every single other application I have seen.

Sometimes they come loose and turn sideways, causing some interesting sounds and effects.

Dont waste your time and money even reading about it :p
