I bought some gaskets and today I received a few more to discover the water pump gasket I bought is ripped/,torn in one place as well as bent up close to ripping in others.
Is it still usable or should I definitely demand a replacement. Its the gasket for the front here's a pic of it in the package , you can see on the the top of the pic where its completely ripped. Attachment 489345 Rotary >Pistons |
yes and no
no because i wouldn't want to be blamed if it failed. yes because i had one come with a water pump that looked exactly like that. what i did was super glued the ripped joint together and then glued all 4 surrounding points and slapped the water pump on, no leaks. |
I wouldn't use it.

Guess I'll have to talk to the vendor I got it off of on eBay , they have 99.5% positive feedback I didnt expect to have a problem.

could have been an honest mistake, that type of material rips very easily and could have gotten crunched in shipping.

I just put a pump on.
I used "the Right stuff" I think it by Permatex.. Yep. LINK:Gasket Makers : Permatex® the Right Stuff® Gasket Maker I put it on thinly,on the actual water pump casing, put the gasket on,and smoothed it down and into the "goo"(that sets the gasket where you want it),then make a bead along either the gasket or the Pump housing, and attach it and put the 4 nuts on the studs, tighten, then put the bolts in. That stuff is amazing.Try and get the Pump off after a day and you will need a hammer. Note: I like to let it set for a day before putting in fluids. |
A slight dab oF rtv should fix it right?

They're sending me a replacement for free , just spoke to the person on eBay.
