Took off exhaust and then reinstalled it - now my car sounds like...
...a car with friggin' true duals!
I had to remove the stock catback from the car to install my Torsen yesterday, and when I finally got everything back in and started the car, it sounded like the meanest mofo ever! Didn't even know our cars could sound this good! I tightened every bolt and but down there, and for some reason exhaust is still leaking from the side. Anybody with any idea why this is happening? Maybe the gaskets? Suggestions welcomed... |
mine does too, reinstalling old gaskets is pretty much useless. I need new gaskets :)
|
Leav it as is. DUALs ROCK!!!!!!!!!
:D Seriously though if yu still have a leak you might need new gaskets or some part of the exhaust has a small hole in it that you over looked. Santiago |
Get a thin sheet of copper and cut a gasket out of that. IIRC Mazda charges an arm and a leg for exhaust gaskets (or maybe just the ones near the turbo?).
|
its like $9 for a fuckin gasket :P
|
$ 1.98 CDN (at canadian tire) for a 31311 exhaust gasket. :)
|
Check carefully for where the leak is before you go and buy gaskets. I had this problem recently and it turned out to a crack in the stock DP. It cracked due to old age while removing/reinstalling the exhaust to replace the clutch.

Check the gasket in between manifold and downpipe.
That's where mine was. It's the strongest exhaust point and hottest. That's where mine usually were. Or around the cat area. Leverage/weight tends to screw that one up. |
$9.00 WTF do u shop, i got mine from advantage auto for like $3.99!! smoke another man and save me some, hehe!!

Hmm...interesting. Will check it out this weekend!
