Too much freeplay in clutch petal
Hello, I always forget, so let me start with... I drive a '87 TII and I have a question. My car makes this like sqeaky noise every time I drive, when I push the clutch petal in, it stops, anytime the clutch is out though, it makes the sound (neutral, first-fifth). Most people say piolet/throwout bearing but someone has told me its not that. Anyways, I can barely push the clutch in and it will stop the squeaking and not disengage the gear. So my question is, is it j ust that my clutch has too much freeplay (I think thats what they call the distance that you can move your clutch where it doesn't disengage the gear). Also, I wanted to move my clutch petal up to stop the noise but I'm sorta concerned that my clutch will be slipping and I won't know it, but I"d know if my clutch was slipping wouldn't I? I'm not going to burn my clutch up if I move the petal in a little am I? Thanks!
P.S. I'd just hate to spend the money on a new clutch when all I needed to do was move my pedal
